Savanna & Graham Holmberg are coming to OV CrossFit in October for the Natural Solutions Class!

This class will be Sunday October 28th beginning at 10am and they will share how natural solutions have impacted their lives.

Here are a few of the topics they will cover:
▪️Recovery (they have some free products to give us!)
▪️Soreness/Tightness/Injury
▪️Sustainable Energy (to help those who work 9-5 and want sustainable energy for their evening WODs and for those who want to go to the next level of training)
▪️Inflammation (how to tame after WODs and then touch on chronic inflammation)
▪️A small bit into family wellness (they love to bring it all together for the moms and dads too!)

They will keep this all within one hour and then will stick around and make themselves available for questions and support.

Get a FREE body scan after class! This is a FREE gift from the Holmberg's that will help you better understand any imbalances you have. This will scan for stress, inflammation, cellular support needs and more. You will get an copy of the scan emailed to you to keep and review with them if you choose.

We hope you can make it!

Moving Beyond The 2018 Open...

As the excitement fades from the 2018 CrossFit Games Open, we are left with the true test of your fitness and your determination. The Work...

Over the past five weeks, we have been thrown through some of the most difficult workouts of our fitness journey and have each triumphed and struggled in our own respective ways.

Whether it was Mark getting his first pull-up in 18.3, Apryl getting her first ring muscle-up, Kim and Joe taking time out of their vacation to drop-in and complete 18.2, Adam completing the entire Open RX, or many of the other successes our community has accomplished, we are amazed each day at the motivation and determination of our athletes.

The challenge now is to acknowledge the triumph but fully embrace the struggle. It will not be fun and at times you will doubt yourself, but if you set your sights on the goal and show up each day you will succeed.

Remember that you are not in this alone and that through a community of fitness, we can accomplish anything. The community that YOU have developed over the past weeks, months, and years is something we are truly at a loss for words over.

We can and will accomplish our goals over this next year, both individually and as OV CrossFit. Thank you all for bringing such excitement to this year's CrossFit Games Open... Now let's get to work on 2019!

Pelvic Floor Seminar with Dr. Dina Cooney

pelvicfloor.jpg

Do you leak urine when you exercise or sneeze? What about that belly… does it pooch out during certain movements? Maybe you are pregnant, or just had a baby and your body needs a little TLC to whip it back into shape…

Do you have a bad habit of holding your breath, or you feel like you just can’t coordinate your breathing during work outs?

“Well then let’s get to the bottom of this!” (…pun intended)

Join us Sunday - March 4th @ 10am to discuss pelvic floor health and what you can do to help!

Urinary incontinence affects 2 out of 5 women. We want to work out to stay fit and be healthy, right? But for some, these conditions may be a source of anxiety and cause embarrassment. Where should you start? With your pelvic floor! Come and learn about common symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction and how you can put an end to these conditions.

Some things that will be covered in the seminar:

  • Anatomy of the pelvic floor

  • What is normal?

  • What is Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, and the different types?

  • How does all of this relate to CrossFit?

  • Things that may make the problem worse.

  • What can you do to help the problem?

Don’t just deal with it.  Put an end to it! Even if you do not have leaking of urine, you will benefit from this educational get together. These muscles span the base of the bony pelvis and are responsible for not only continence of urine and stool, but stability of the pelvis and spine. They are an integral part of your core that are often neglected. I’d love to teach you how to give this part of your body the attention it needs!

Hello! My name is Dr. Dina Cooney, physical therapist, level 2 certified CrossFit trainer, and mother of three vivacious children! After graduating with my bachelors in exercise science from Ohio University in 2005, I then went on to receive a doctorate in physical therapy from Wheeling Jesuit University 2007. I now works at Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, WV, and coach at OV CrossFit in St. Clairsville, OH.

My background includes being a competitive athlete my entire life, and CrossFit coach since 2012, but what I’m most excited to tell you is that I am just a regular girl— just like you! I have good days and bad days, and my own health challenges and struggles. My passion, my vision, and my purpose is to help women heal their bodies through self-care, knowledge, and safe and effective fitness. It’s a holistic lifestyle that will change your body and your quality of life. My goal is to not only provide the highest quality rehabilitation to individuals with pelvic floor dysfunction, but to also help mankind become proactive in how we approach the athlete – to educate and train to improve overall fitness.
